Sunshine is good for the soul
... and a lot of other things, too!
Studies show increased exposure to sunlight (in moderation... we don't want to get skin cancer) enhances your mood. Sunlight produces Vitamin D, which protects against depression, insomnia and an overactive immune system. Vitamin D also boosts skeletal health, reduces risk of hip fractures, colorectal cancer, strokes and heart attacks. It can also bolster memory and protect against dementia.
Avoid long hours in the sun at one time, but do try to get some exposure several days a week. So, grab a friend or family member for a nice leisurely walk in the sun!
